Mailchimp is an American marketing automation platform and email marketing service for managing mailing lists and creating email marketing campaigns. "Mailchimp" is the trading name of its operator, Rocket Science Group, an American company founded in 2001. As of 2021, its parent company is Intuit.

An e-newsletter is an email that is sent to your subscribers regularly to keep them informed about the latest news and updates about your product or brand. Depending on the kind of content you have to share and the frequency in which subscribers expect your newsletters, you can send them on a weekly or monthly basis.

But sometimes, a subscriber prefers to receive not the whole e-newsletter, but its certain part that should be concentrated on (for example, only the information per a manufacturer or news or discounts). This module allows to differentiate among these e-newsletter parts so a subscriber can choose to receive the required part accordingly.

In order for Subscription module to work, Newsletter module (with the Mailchimp integration) needs to be installed and configured first.

How it works?

In the admin area, for each front end, subscriber lists can be either added manually or imported from Mailchimp.

While adding/editing a subscriber list you can specify the required tag for the corresponding language as well as fill in/update the other fields.

Subscriber lists can be exported back to Mailchimp in 2 ways:
a) via List (a subscriber is added to a few lists)
b) via Tag (a subscriber is assigned to the primary list and is marked with tag).

Tags should be preliminary created in Mailchimp. One list with tags and tag segmentation is recommended by Mailchimp.

Also customers can be filtered via subscriber lists if there is at least one subscriber.
Then, on the front end the separate pages regarding the subscriber lists are added to accounts where customers may choose what kind of e-newsletter parts they would like to receive.

Finally, the same lists show up on the subscribe page as well.

This module is used in the backend and on the front end and its settings can be found under Modules and Extensions tabs.

Widgets and pages:

The subscribers widget and the subscribe, subscribed and unsubscribed pages are added to this module.
