Google Authenticator is a mobile security application based on two-factor authentication that helps to verify users’ identities before providing them access to websites and services.
How it works?
When logining to the admin area of your web-store the system will show up a QR code and will offer you to scan it with your Google Authenticator application loaded to your device. Then you will need to enter a one-time pass code that was delivered to your device.
This combination verifies that the person entering login data on the website possesses the device to which the Google Authenticator application was downloaded.
The Google Authenticator application is based on the time-based one-time password system, generating a six-digital passcode which is changed every 30 seconds.
When you login to the web-store admin area next time, the system will only ask you to enter a one-time Google Authenticator code.
