Website maintenance refers to the tasks required to keep your website functioning properly and up to date.
Once the maintenance status is switched on in the backend, visitors will see the corresponding maintenance page on the front end. A maintenance page is a temporary placeholder for times when a website needs to be taken offline for updates, backups or maintenance. It tells the visitor that the website they are trying to reach is temporarily unavailable because the team behind the scenes is doing some work.
This module also allows you to specify the allowed IP addresses for the required specialists to be able to access the front end while the website is under maintenance. It is important to have such access since these specialists may need to check how the website looks before the maintenance page is removed and the website is available for visitors again.
This module is used in the backend and on the front end and its settings can be found under Modules and Extensions tabs.
